PPC Grassroots Effort to Improve Park Safety

Coalition Works with Salt Lake City Police to Improve Community Safety

The Pioneer Park Coalition worked with the Salt Lake Police department to fundraise and acquire new security technology for Pioneer Park. A new “canopy” of high definition cameras are connected to allow law enforcement to see anywhere in the park at anytime of day.

Earlier this month, the Salt Lake City Mayor’s office released The Homeless Services Six Point Strategy to End Homelessness. The Six Point Strategy included the Pioneer Park Coalition as a primary community partner in the plan and listed the renewal of Pioneer Park as the sixth strategy. This first grassroots effort to improve community safety is but the first step of the coalition in a journey to improve Pioneer Park and the way we address homelessness in our community.
